Depending on the individual study progress, this module will take place in one of the three areas of mandatory placements. Modules 8, 12, and 16 are assigned to the areas of outpatient acute and long-term care, inpatient acute care, and inpatient long-term care, respectively.

Through the specific focus on inpatient acute care, the students develop increasing confidence in the breadth and depth of the competencies to be developed over a period of several months.

In the first third of the practical study phases, students increasingly take on independent tasks within the care of people with a low level of care needs. Professional decisions continue to be made in consultation with qualified nursing staff. Depending on their individual knowledge and progress, students, together with qualified nursing staff, care for people whose care and support is more complex. Here, they increasingly perform nursing tasks independently that are of medium complexity. This means that while the physical and mental health of the people requiring care is not always stable, their care and support do not pose significant risks.

If the people requiring care have an unstable health condition and their care poses risks, care is generally provided jointly with qualified nursing staff. Depending on their level of knowledge, students can independently take on selected sub-tasks.
