The HGE also plans to open up the path to university qualification for interested practitioners who would like to develop their professional or pedagogical skills at university level.
From 2026, part-time formats for the nursing and midwifery degree programs as well as a part-time degree program for health professionals who are already state-certified (BA in Health Education with a focus on practical instruction) will be developed and offered in order to enable the university qualification of practical instructors in accordance with legal requirements.
Against the background of increasing academization trends, the health professions of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, OTA/ATA and emergency paramedic are further options for degree programs to be developed that could significantly improve and diversify the university offering in the state of Brandenburg. In the field of therapy science, primary qualifying degree programs have been offered in Germany for several years within the framework of a model clause. The model clause, which has already been extended twice, is to end permanently in 2024 according to the efforts of the professional associations. Depending on political developments and the final decision regarding the model clause, the HGE portfolio can be expanded and supplemented accordingly in the medium to long term, depending on demand.
