Housing and life

Eberswalde – #my green city of the future

Eberswalde – Berlin: a fast and unproblematic connection!

The HGE is located in the green forest town of Eberswalde, in the north-east of the state of Brandenburg and has excellent infrastructure connections.

In addition to the connection to the regional rail network, the inner-city campus is connected to the Eberswalde public transport network. This includes the inner-city trolleybus network, which is not only one of the oldest in Germany, but also allows all of Eberswalde's districts to be reached in just a few minutes. From Eberswalde train station, you can be in the capital in less than 35 minutes, which makes Eberswalde an attractive place to study.

Eberswalde – a flourishing student town.

With the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development already located in Eberswalde, Eberswalde has been a location for sustainable teaching and research in the areas of nature conservation, forestry, organic farming, adaptation to climate change, sustainable economy, timber construction and sustainable tourism management for over 190 years. With the Eberswalde University for Health Professions, this repertoire is being expanded to include the variety of health professions. Eberswalde offers the ideal conditions for scientific work in a quiet city far from the hustle and bustle and surrounded by parks, green spaces and forests.

Eberswalde – a green “forest city” on the rise!

Life in the city can be exciting, but also exhausting. Especially in Berlin. Fresh air and space for exercise in the countryside are rare: getting out of the urban jungle is what many Berliners want, and they are increasingly opting for housing in the surrounding area. But it is not just the longing for nature that draws Berliners to the surrounding area. In recent years, rents in the city have risen steadily, so it is not surprising that the Berlin area in particular is seeing more and more growth. Eberswalde is also increasingly perceived by Berliners as an attractive place to live with direct transport links to Berlin. The high proportion of students and the sustainable projects within the city in particular make it fun to observe and help shape the development of Eberswalde.

Culture and culinary diversity

In conversations with locals, Eberswalde's culinary diversity is repeatedly mentioned, which is not only due to the fact that the inventor of the modern Spritzkuchen, Gustav Louis Zietemann, offered the first Eberswalde Spritzkuchen in his own pastry shop in 1832. It is much more the culinary diversity "in the alley charm" of the smallest pedestrian zone in the world, it is the numerous cafés and restaurants of various nationalities in which you can indulge yourself with culinary delights in Eberswalde. As a former bathing and climatic health resort and with its reputation as a forest town, Eberswalde offers countless excursion and leisure opportunities, particularly close to nature, as well as a weekly cultural program in the city center.
